摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light receiving device (or light-emitting device) with which optical connection with high efficiency is realized and cost reduction is also realized although its structure is simple and a handling of connection or the like is easy, with respect to a light receiving device (or light-emitting device) for a optical fiber having a comparatively large core diameter like a multi-mode polymer optical fiber. SOLUTION: The light receiving device is provided with an element layer 2 and a surface layer 3. A semiconductor photodetector 4 having a light receiving part 6 is formed in an element layer. While the diameter of one end side is made to have a diameter allowing the insertion of an optical fiber P, the diameter of the other end side is made to have the diameter of almost the same size as that of the light receiving part, a light transmission hole 9 having an inner peripheral surface of high reflexivity is formed in the surface layer in correspondence to the position of the light receiving part in the state of penetration.
