PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily and correctly measure the traffic density of an elevator. SOLUTION: Desired conditions for measuring the traffic density are determined in advance in an operating device 26. A weighting device 16 is mounted on an elevator car 10 for detecting the load weight in a door opening period of the elevator car 10. A traffic density measuring device 24 stores the change of the load weight detected by the weighting device 16. The traffic density measuring device measures the traffic density of the elevator on the basis of the measuring conditions determined in the operating device 26 and the information on the load weight of the elevator car 10 or the like. The operating device can be installed at a remote site through a remote communication base or the like.
