The sprocket chain for a continuously variable drive has links made up of overlapping plates (180, 182). These have apertures (12) in which rocking components (112, 114) are mounted. The surfaces (184, 186, 188, 194) cooperate with the edge of the aperture and each other to restrict swivelling of the links and prevent the chain jamming. Independent claims are included for: (a) a continuously variable drive for a car containing the chain and (b) a method for manufacturing the chain.
