PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a mold clamping device for an injection molding machine which can be miniaturized. SOLUTION: A fixed platen 1 fitted with a fixed mold 5, a movable platen 2 fitted with a movable mold 6, and an end platen 3 in which a mini-toggle mechanism 8 for increasing a mold clamping pressure is placed between it and the movable platen 2 are arranged. One end of each of four tie rods 4 is connected to the fixed platen 1 by a nut 11, the other end is engaged with the end platen 3 by a locking split nut 12, the fixed platen 1 is connected with the end platen 3 by mold opening/closing ball screws 13, the end platen 3 is fitted to a slide 7, and the movable platen 2 is mounted slidably on the slide 7. In a mold opening/closing process, the ball screws 13 are driven with the split nut 12 opened, and the movable platen 2 and the end platen 3 are integrally moved forward/backward. In a mold clamping pressure increasing process, the mini-toggle mechanism 8 is driven with the split nut 12 closed to generated prescribed mold clamping force.
