PURPOSE: A plasma display device is provided to emit high light with low energy supply and reduce losses of the discharging energy. CONSTITUTION: A plasma display device comprises a front(11) and a back(21) substrates opposing each other. A plurality of display element electrodes(41) each constituted of a pair of electrode segments is formed on the front substrate(11). The pair of electrode segments has linear edges opposing each other, and the width of each of the electrode segments becoming narrower in the direction away from the linear edges. A barrier structure(29) having the inner surfaces disposed along the outer ends of the plurality of display element electrodes(41) is formed on the back substrate(21). The barrier structure(29) defines a plurality of cells each of which is activated by the associated one of the plurality of display element electrodes(41).
