PURPOSE: To provide a method for producing a fluorescent substance for vacuum ultraviolet excitable light-emitting element good in life characteristics of luminance of light emission by vacuum ultraviolet excitation and to obtain a fluorescent substance paste. CONSTITUTION: This method for producing the fluorescent substance for vacuum ultraviolet excitable light-emitting element comprises mixing a fluorescent substance with an aluminum-based coupling agent and baking the resultant mixture. The fluorescent substance paste comprises the aluminum-based coupling agent. A plasma display panel uses the fluorescent substance or the fluorescent substance paste.
