<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical flow cell which self-cleaning. SOLUTION: An optical flow cell for executing scattered light measurement to a sample carried by a liquid is often affected by fine particle material adhering to an optical surface inside the flow cell. The fine contamination particles possibly distort a scattered light signal to be measured from the illuminated sample inside the flow cell. The fine contamination particles are difficult to be removed, after the cell is assembled. A method for moving and removing the fine contamination particles includes that the outside of the flow cell is installed with an ultrasonic generator 16, while its operation frequency can be adjusted such that the operation frequency is most effectively coupled to an internal structure of the flow cell itself. The ultrasonic coupling requires a strong flow, passing through the cell to remove the moved fine particles from the cell. A strong ultrasonic wave is swept over a frequency range to ensure proper mechanical action.</p> |
