PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recording or reproducing device which is capable of recording information while averting a defect region. SOLUTION: Error detection is carried out when reproducing continuous image information, such as animation images and when an error is detected, the physical address information of the defect region is recorded in a management information recording region of a recording medium, by which the information may be recorded by averting the defect region when the information is next recorded to the same recording medium.
