PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a contact type two-dimensional image sensor in which alignment of an image is easily adjusted and which does not need an illuminator. SOLUTION: This image sensor is provided with a photodiode for performing photoelectric conversion of each pixel of the image sensor, a thin film transistor for outputting electric charge and a capacitor for storing the electric charges, and the thin film transistor, the capacitor and wiring are made translucent. Since light transmits parts other than the photodiode in the image sensor, it is possible to visually recognize an image being a reading object and to illuminate the image by outdoor daylight.
