PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rotational position detector which can be attached easily to an object to be detected, has a small size, requires a small occupying space, can obtain stable outputs with respect to temperature changes, and is hardly affected by the magnetic field of a magnet, etc. SOLUTION: This rotational position detector is constituted to detect the angle of rotation of the object to be detected, by observing the oscillation period by means of a comparator (2) by changing the inductance of a coil, the charging and discharging time of a capacitor (1), and the oscillation period by using a magnetic material or conductor, formed in such a shape that the overlapping area of the material on the coil changes gradually as the object rotates.
