<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an opening/closing device for a grand piano which is capable of easily, surely and slowly closing a topboard and is thereby capable of surely preventing the damage of the topboard and side boards with an in expensive and simple structure. SOLUTION: This device has a stationary rod 12 which is fixed to the rear surface of the topboard 2 and extends in a direction perpendicular to the turning axis of a fulcrum 4 of the topboard 2, a hollow slider 13 which fits freely movably to the stationary rod 12, a movable rod 14 which is freely turnably mounted at one end to the slider 13 and at the other end to a position on the side opposite to the fulcrum 4 of the side board 5 and a brake 17 which is disposed in the slider 13 so as to oppose the stationary rod 12 thereto from an upper side with a play P in a vertical direction, brakes the topboard 2 by exerting friction force to the stationary rod 12 to abut on the topboard 2 during turning of the topboard 2 in a closing direction and permits the turning of the topboard 2 in a non-braking state by parting of the stationary rod 12 when the topboard 2 turns in an open direction.</p> |
