PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a touch panel, capable of reducing or preventing misunderstanding and malfunction. SOLUTION: A conductive portion 32 is formed on a base 26 of a panel body 24 and a contact portion 44 of an electrode 40, located apart from the inner periphery of a transparent hole 34 is provided inside the transparent hole 34 which is formed in the conductive portion 32. A current is conducted through the electrode 40 by a finger 52, touching the contact portion 44 and the conductive portion 32. The location of the finger 52 can be detected, by detecting which electrode 40 of the plural electrodes 40 a current is conducted through and which electrode 40 the current is not conducted through. Since no current is conducted through the electrode 40, as long as a conductive object such as the finger 52 is not touched, the possibility of false recognition or wrong detection of foreign matters is eliminated. There will be no wrong detections generated due to light, because the constitution is not meant for detection of light in the first place.
