PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic head having a sufficient recording/reproducing capability and capable of making stable contact with a magnetic recording medium under any environments, regarding a magnetic head used for performing high density recording/reproducing, and also for multi-recording. SOLUTION: A depth 7 from the sliding surface of a sliding width regulation groove 6 for regulating the sliding width of a magnetic head to have a specified width is set deeper than that of a joined surface 8 between the single crystal ferrite 1 of a front magnetic circuitry part and the polycrystal ferrite 2 of a rear magnetic circuitry. Further, the groove width of the sliding width regulation groove is made different between the surface side of a head base 24 as a reference surface and its opposite side.
