PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a particle size sensor, capable of accurately deciding a particle size, even if a powder concentration changes, in the particle size sensor accurately and rapidly deciding a particle size state by utilizing a scattered light intensity without converting the scattered light intensity into a particle size distribution. SOLUTION: This particle size sensor has a scattering field 4 for measuring a sample; a laser light source 2 for irradiating the sample led in the scatter field with laser light; a photodetector 6 having plural detection elements for detecting the scattered light intensity of the laser light diffracted and scattered by the sample led in the scatter field; and a data processing means 10 for comparing whether a detection value detected by each the detection element of the photodetector 6 is within a standard range set in each the detection element or not, and outputting a prescribed signal, on the basis of the comparison result. The data processing means 10 changes the standard ranges, according to the concentration of the sample.
