PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cylinder-discriminating apparatus of an internal combustion engine, capable of surely discriminating a cylinder even in cranking of the internal combustion engine and preventing wrong detection, wrong control and detection delay. SOLUTION: This cylinder discriminating apparatus is provided with a crank angle sensor 20 for detecting the crank angle of the internal combustion engine 14 having plural cylinders, a cylinder discriminating means 31 for discriminating a cylinder as a controlled object according to an output signal of the crank angle sensor 20, a cranking determining means 34 for detecting the cranking state of the internal combustion engine 14, and a cylinder discriminating wrong determination preventing means 32 for detecting the cranking start of the internal combustion engine 14, according to the output of the cranking determining means and invalidating discrimination of the cylinder by the cylinder discriminating means 31, until a prescribed time elapses from the start of the cranking.
