PURPOSE: To provide a light source device which does not give excess accumulation of heat to the object of illumination and to provide a liquid crystal display device which uses the light source device. CONSTITUTION: An illumination face having an almost flat surface and a substantially plate-like transparent substrate facing the illumination face are disposed between the object of illumination and a light source 41. The illumination face and the back face of the transparent substrate hold sealing walls 44 to form a sealed space, and the inner pressure of the sealed space is controlled to nearly vacuum. A heat radiating part 105 to discharge the heat generating from the light source 41 to the outside is formed as integrated with the device.
