<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To contrive a floating structure capable of taking a large amount of deep sea water with small energy consumption and retain the water on the surface layer for a long period and to construct a large-scale artificial culture apparatus in the sea. SOLUTION: The floating structure has an opening opened upward at nearly the middle part of the structure, a skirt suspended from the circumference of the opening to the deep sea water zone and a pump placed on the floating structure and discharging the surface layer of the deep sea water lifted in the opening. The deep sea water is slowly lifted in the skirt by discharging the surface water in the opening with the pump. The deep sea water lifted to the surface layer is slowly heated by the sun and the temperature becomes higher at the upper layer and, accordingly, the water is retained in the opening until it is discharged by the pump. The floating structure may be further provided with an electric power plant operated by natural energy such as solar energy, wave energy and wind energy to drive the discharging pump by the electric power generated by the plant.</p> |
