PURPOSE: A dividing method using an approximate value is provided to improve an area and a timing in sight of a hardware resource by using only multiplication and truncation in an environment to which no dividing operation is applied. CONSTITUTION: A first process increases an arbitrary number k in sequence and calculates a value by dividing a k square of 2 by a divisor n. A second process ascends or descends decimals of the calculated value to seek for an m value. A third process determines a specific k value and m value by using the divided value and the m value. A fourth process multiplies the specific k value by an arbitrary dividend. A fifth process performs a truncation as many as specific k bit of lower rank from the multiplied result value to seek for a share.
