PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To simplify the structure of a locking mechanism, to facilitate assembly, to lower a production cost, and to improve durability. SOLUTION: This hoisting device is provided with a base member 10 suspended by a hoisting machine such as a crane, a chain C arranged between two points of a heavy load, a pulley 20 journaled to the base member 10 rotationally and engaged with the chain C so as to be rotated by tensile force of the chain C for moving the chain C, and a locking mechanism 30 locking the pulley 20 to the base member 10. The locking mechanism 30 is provided with an engaging recess part 31, a locking member 32 movable between two positions, that is, between a locking position A, in which the locking member 32 is engaged in the engaging recess part 31 so as to lock the pulley 20, and a lock releasing position B, in which the locking member 32 is released from the engaging recess part 31 so as to release locking, a spring 33 always energizing the locking member 32 to the locking position, and a rope body 34 pulling the locking member 32 and moving the locking member 32 to the lock releasing position B against energizing force of the spring 33.
