PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an oil filter the filter body of which can be burned completely and in which the structure of a relief valve mechanism is simple. SOLUTION: In the oil filter A, the cylindrical filter body 3 supporting an element 1 for filtering oil is fitted in a bottomed cylindrical casing 4, the tip opening of the filter body 3 is closed by a rubber cap 6 having an approximately U-shaped notch, and when the pressure difference between the upstream side and downstream side of the filter body 3 is a prescribed value or above, a U-shaped part is shifted into a cylindrical part 23 to open a valve.
