PURPOSE: A vehicle seat having an air cushion is provided to absorb the shock and prevent a passenger from being injured by expanding an air cushion in a head-on collision with installing air cushions in a backrest and a headrest of a seat. CONSTITUTION: Air cushions(14) having air injection ports are installed in a front of a seat backrest(10) and a front of a headrest(11). A compressor is driven with a controller receiving a signal from a collision detecting sensor, and the air cushion is expanded with supplying air from the compressor. The controller outputs the driving signal to the compressor by inputting the signal from the collision detecting sensor with deploying an air bag at a head-on collision. Air is supplied to the air cushion through the injection port by driving the compressor, and the impact is buffered with bumping a passenger into the air cushion by expanding the air cushion. The impact is absorbed with injecting air by the compressor without explosives.
