PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To satisfactorily read documents at all the time while keeping clean the read plane of an image sensor. SOLUTION: Concerning the document reader, when document data containing characters, marks, figures and images displayed on inserted documents are sent to the position of an image sensor 30, the document data are optically read by this image sensor 30. Since a read plane 31a of the image sensor 30 is composed of glass or the like, plural transparent seals 31 are stuck on this read plane 30a. When the read plane 30a is made dirty with the powder of a pencil or ink of a pen on the surface of documents, by releasing the dirty seal 31, the next seal 31 is exposed. |
