PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform high-quality taping on a coil with high productivity. SOLUTION: The taping head of a taping device is provided with a sensing head 2 for teaching. Cross-sectional projections 1H and 1D of the coil 1 from different two directions are measured by means of first and second cross-sectional projection measuring instruments 8a-8d and 9a-9d which are arranged in orthogonal directions and the coordinate of the center 1a of the coil 1 is calculated at a plurality of measuring positions, based on the measured projections 1H and 1D. The calculation accuracy of the coordinate of center 1a of the coil 1, based on the projections 1H and 1D, is improved by correcting positional relations between the instruments 8a-8d and 9a-9d and coil 1 by detecting the rotation (tumble) of the coil by means of two distance sensors 10a and 10b and rotating a rotating frame 5, as necessary.
