PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an intermediate pile construction method capable of easily and safely removing cement cakes around an intermediate pile when excavation is performed. SOLUTION: In the intermediate pile construction method to be performed in earth-retaining work including a process to excavate the ground to form an insertion hole 6, a process to pour cement milk in the insertion hole 6, and a process to insert an intermediate pile 1 in the insertion hole 6, the intermediate pile 1 in which a mortar form coating material to facilitate the exfoliation of mortar after the solidification of cement milk is previously applied on the surfaces except a root part 1a is used.
