PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the lubrication failure, seizure of a structural member with the lubrication failure, and noise with a simple device at a low cost without using a lubricating device for separately lubricating a power transmitting device in an internal combustion engine with the structure that an output shaft of a motor is connected to a crank shaft through a power transmitting device such as a gear transmission freely to be cranked. SOLUTION: In an internal combustion engine with the structure that an output shaft of a motor is connected to a crank shaft through a power transmitting device such as a gear transmission freely to be cranked by the motor, a rotary member of the power transmitting device is fitted to a shaft end of the clank shaft so that a lower end of the periphery of the rotary member is arranged over the oil surface inside of an oil pan, and a space facing to the periphery of the rotary member is formed in a cover for housing the rotary member, and the lubricating oil is led into that space from a lubricating part of the crank shaft or a main gallery, and an oil return passage is provided so as to communicate the oil reservoir space with the inside of the oil pan.
