PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a heat exchanger in which high pressure oxygen gas can be supplied from an air separator without using an oxygen compressor and with no risk of reaction of a heat exchanging material and oxygen. SOLUTION: In a heat exchanger where an oxygen layer having a liquid oxygen channel and a heat exchanging layer having a heat exchanging material channel are included contiguously, the wall between adjacent channels in each oxygen layer and the wall between the relevant channel and the channel of an adjacent layer have such a cross-section, in a plane perpendicular to the flow direction between adjacent channels, as having thickness A of at least 10% of hydraulic mean diameter combining two adjacent channels at the narrowest part and an average thickness of at least 15% of the relevant combined hydraulic mean diameter, and the ratio of cross-section in that plane of a pure iron alloy wall body defining the channel of each oxygen layer to the cross-section of channel in that layer is 0.7 or above, preferably at least 0.8.
