The invention relates to a method and system for producing particle boards or similar board materials, which are comprised of small particles that are pressed together under pressure and heat inside a press. According to the invention, the finished board material that is at least partially cooled after leaving the press is superficially reheated on at least one face and is subjected to a pressure treatment extending over the face by means of a pressure element. The reheating is effected by means of a short heated double band press (10).
