PURPOSE: A download service system for a portable terminal and a method for serving an application program using the same are provided to promote to enable the portable terminal to download the application program via the Internet according to a request. CONSTITUTION: A download client(110) actually executes application by allowing a download manager(111) to manage a storage(112). An application program server(120) stores various application programs to be given to a user and provides the application program in response to the request from the download client(110). A wireless Internet server(300) such as a web server, performs an interconnection and a data communication between the portable terminal(100) and the application program server(120) via an Internet network.
