<p>A switching circuit (68) automatically switches the connections to an Ethernet connector to adapt to use of either a straight or crossover Ethernet cable. A processor (120) detects the presence or absence of valid Ethernet data (430) and determines the appropriate state of an array of four switches (68) to effect either a straight or crossover connection. Conflicts between two such circuits continuously switching is resolved by waiting for one or two random delays (430) to determine if valid Ethernet communication is taking place.</p> |
