The ballasting device includes a piston and cylinder unit fastened to the top section of the crane vehicle with a coupling unit attached to the vertical movable piston rod. The coupling has a support(6) connected to one end of the piston rod, and two claws(8,8') are pivot-mounted on the support. A pivoting yoke(21) is installed on one claw and for monitoring of the abutment of the ballast component(17) on the claw interacts with a proximity sensor(24) installed in the support. The yoke is located in a recess in the horizontal end face of the claw.
