PURPOSE: A device for monitoring a road surface state and driver's information unit is provided to inform a road surface state and a driver's state via algorithms using only an rpm sensor for measuring an engine rpm, a transmission carrier and an angle velocity of wheels and estimating a friction coefficient of a road surface and a driving torque. CONSTITUTION: A device for monitoring a road surface state and driver's information unit includes a power supply(1) for supplying power to respective elements, an input circuit part(2) for receiving angle velocity data of wheels and rpm data of a vehicle engine, a CPU(Central Processing Unit;3) for controlling a road surface state and driver's state information, a flash memory(4) mounted with a road surface state controlling program and temporarily storing input and output processing data, a RAM(5) for temporarily storing the angle velocity data and the rpm data, a serial communication part(6) for serial communication with an ECU of a vehicle, an output circuit part(7) estimating a road surface state via an algorithm for various state variables to output a road surface state data, and a display(9) for displaying the road surface state output from the output circuit part and the driver's state information input from the serial communication part.
