PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a 1-methylcarbapenem compound having an excellent antimicrobial activity, its pharmacologically effective prodrug or its pharmacologically effective salt. SOLUTION: This 1-methylcarbapenem compound has a general formula (1) [R1 is a 1-6C alkyl or the like; R2 and R3 are each independently a hydrogen atom or the like; R4 is a hydrogen atom or the like; R5 is a group having the formula C(=NH) R6 [R6 is an amino group or the like]; n is 0, 1 or 2; A is a 1-8C alkylene group or the like], its pharmacologically effective prodrug or its pharmacologically effective salt.
