MAIN ROPE REPLACEMENT METHOD AND DEVICE FOR ELEVATOR

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a main rope replacement method and device allowing the replacement of a main rope dividedly without requiring any special work or frame. SOLUTION: This method and device comprises a rope connector 17 for connecting one end of a new main rope 20 to one end of an existing main rope 4, a pulling means 15 for successively pulling the existing main rope 4 having the new main rope 20 connected thereto from the other end side, and fitting bodies 30a-30f and guide bodies 31a-31c interposed between a sheave 3a and the main ropes 4 and 20 to reduce the friction force generated in the movement of the main ropes 4 and 20. The existing main rope 4 is pulled by the pulling means 15, whereby the new main rope 20 connected to the existing main rope 4 through the rope connector 17 is successively laid.
