PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a file transmission and reception system and a file transmitting and receiving program storage medium, which can efficiently transmit and receive many files. SOLUTION: The file transmission and reception system has a transmitting program 10, which compresses, merges, and divides transmitted files 'A.DAT', 'B.DAT',..., 'n.DAT' and transmits the generated divided files 'XXX.001', 'XXX.002', 'XXX.003',..., 'XXX.999' and a receiving program 20 which receives, remerges, redivided, and unfreezes the sent divided files to obtain the original files 'A.DAT', 'B.DAT',..., 'n.DAT'; and the transmitting program 10 generates the divided files and the receiving program 20 remerges the divided files according to a division size definition table 30, where file sizes matching the transmission are defined according to communication environment between the transmission source and reception side.
