PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a discharge lamp lighting device and illuminator without enlarging the size of parts and increasing the number of parts, restraining generation of noise which has an effect on television and radio. SOLUTION: The discharge lamp lighting device comprises a rectifier circuit 14 rectifying and filtering the voltage of an alternating current power source 10, an inverter circuit 17 converting the rectified direct current to high frequency voltage, discharge lamps (28, 32) lighted by the high frequency voltage from the inverter circuit 17, a filter circuit 11 having a common mode choke 13 for effective reduction of high frequency noise in high frequency band of more than 30 MHz radiated from the inverter circuit 17. The lighting device is characterized in the location of the common mode choke 13 which is located at the nearest area to the alternating current power source 10. Leakage of high frequency noise from the inverter circuit 17 by coupling with alternating current power supply line, can be prevented. |
