PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the number of elements for determining a timing for horizontally shifting a panel by a certain amount, and reduce dispersion factors by mechanically simplifying. SOLUTION: The apparatus has an operation converting mechanism for converting a matching operation of a panel 3 of a cathode-ray tube and a supporting structure of a color selecting mask to a position adjusting operation in either of holding fixtures thereof. In the operation converting mechanism, for example a contacting and moving means (a copy roller) 66 provided on the side of a panel holding fixture 20; a projection 42 fixed and projected on the side of a holding fixture 50 of the supporting structure; and cams 43, 44 fixed to the projection 42 and having a step S, which move in a state that the contacting and moving means 66 is contacted as both holding fixtures 20, 50 approach, are interlocked with the contacting and moving means 66. Butting means 59, 61 and 64 for adjusting a position of the panel 3 in the holding fixture 20 are provided for pushing the panel 3 toward y direction by an amountΔy specified by the step S, as both the holding fixtures approach.
