An infinitely variable wheel and disk gear has an input shaft and wheel and an output disc forming a pair, plus several friction wheels (13) which swivel into and out of position between the two main wheels as required. The wheels (13) have support (15) coupled to a control plate (17). The support (15) is returned to the required position by a hydraulically-operated valve (19) slide (23). The valve lever (19) swivel axis (20) is essentially perpendicular to the gear horizontal axis (Z).
