<p>The objects of this invention are a method and a calender for calendering web-like material (3). The web (3) is brought to the calender comprising at least two rolls (1, 2) arranged in nip contact, at least one roll being a thermo roll (2) that can be heated, and the web (3) is calendered in the nip between the rolls (1, 2). To reduce heat loss from the thermo roll (2), the web (2) is directed to travel on the mantle surface of the thermo roll (2) so that it surrounds at least half of the circle of the mantle surface of the thermo roll (2).</p> |
