Novel phosphorylated diphosphane compounds are claimed. Phosphorylated diphosphane compounds (I) are of formula (1). Ar, Ar' = aryl or heteroaryl, R=H, alkyl, ammonium or a metal having a free valency; k = 0 or 1; n,m = 0-2; m+n = 2. Independent claims are included for: (i) a process for the production of compounds (I) by bromination of a 2,2'-bis-(diarylphosphinoxy)-1,1'-binaphthyl, phosphorylation with an alkyl phosphite, reduction with a silane and optionally hydrolysis and conversion to form a phosphonic acid salt; (ii) a transition metal catalyst (II) for the hydroformylation or hydrogenation of monoolefins, non-conjugated polyolefins or corresponding derivatives, that contains 1-200 moles of phosphorylated bisphosphane ligand (I) per mole of transition metal, preferably Rh, Ru, Ir, Pd, Pt, Os, Ni or Co; (iii) a process for the production of aldehydes by reaction of monoolefins and corresponding derivative with carbon monoxide and water whereby the reaction is carried out in the presence of catalyst (II) containing rhodium at 40-140 deg C, 10-100 bar and active metal concentration of 10-10,000 ppm; and (iv) a process for the hydrogenation of mono-olefins and corresponding derivatives with hydrogen whereby the reaction is carried out in the presence of catalyst (II) containing ruthenium, iridium, platinum or palladium at 40-120 deg C, from normal pressure to 200 bar and active metal concentration of 1-5000 ppm. |
