PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal terpolyester capable of melt molding and its preparation method shown by formula (I) [In the formula, R is C1, C6H5, CH3, CO or CH3]. SOLUTION: This preparation method comprises the acetylation of 8(3- hydroxyphenyl)octanoic acid and hydroquone by applying on acetylating agent, the acidolysis polycondensation of the acetylated products to remove effectively the acetic acid in order to form a larger molecular weight and the post polymerization which is performed at the high temperature below decomposition temperature for a long time.
