PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system and a method for navigation capable of lightening a burden of operation on a user to allow the user to concentrate on driving, etc., by a method wherein, if display other than present position display continues, the display is automatically switched to present position display, and to provide a storage medium stored with software for navigation. SOLUTION: This system has a present position computing part 40 for computing the present position of a movable body, a destination specifying part 42 for specifying a destination, a route computing part 43 for computing a route along which the movable body can reach the destination from the present position, a display part 10 for displaying the computed route on its screen, a status detecting part 45 for detecting whether or not the display on the screen of the display part 10 is own vehicle display that displays a mark designating the own vehicle and a map around it, a measuring part 46 for measuring the travel distance for a period during which display other than own vehicle display continues, and a switching commanding part 47 for commanding switching to the own vehicle display when a predetermined travel distance is reached. |
