PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a display device for a vehicle capable of enhancing marketability. SOLUTION: This device is provided with: a display unit D having non-self- emitting type display bodies each composed of a pointer 2, a display panel 4 and a liquid crystal panel 5, and light sources 6-8 allowing the display bodies 2, 4 and 5 to emit lights, and forming a luminescent display image of the display bodies 2, 4 and 5 by lighting the light sources 6-8; and a control means 10 for lighting the light sources 6-8 and controlling their brightness according to an input signal from an ignition switch 15. The control means 10 turns on the light source 7 so as to gradually increase the brightness of the luminescent display image when it receives the signal input from the ignition switch 15.
