PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a grain oriented silicon steel hot rolled steel sheet by which edge cracking in the tip parts (LE parts) of a steel sheet frequently generated at hot finish rolling is further effectively reduced, and the grain oriented silicon steel sheet can be produced in a high yield. SOLUTION: At the time of heating a grain oriented silicon steel slab containing 2.5 to 5.5 mass% Si to form a sheet bar by rough rolling and thereafter performing finish rolling, only both edge parts from the tip part of the sheet bar to a prescriged position in the longitudinal direction are rapidly cooled to control their temperature to <=1,080 deg.C, and immediately, horizontal rolling reduction is performed. |
