PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a chain-shaped metallic colloid dispered liquid capable of forming a functional layer excellent in antistatic characteristics, electromagnetic wave shielding properties and electric conductivity and, used for the front board of a flat panel display such as CRT, PDP and EFD, and also provide a method for producing the colloid dispersed liquid. SOLUTION: This chain-shaped metallic colloid dispersed liquid has a chain- shaped dispersoid in which at least one kind of metal is contained, the ratio of the average main chain length to the average thickness in chain-shaped metallic colloids is 5 to 50, and also, the average thickness is 2 to 30 nm. The method for producing the same is also provided.
