PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide ablator structure lightweight and having mechanical strength. SOLUTION: The outer surface of a shell 3 of a spacecraft 1 is covered with a felt heat insulating material 4, and an ablator 2 is provided covering the felt heat insulating material 4. The ablator 2 is formed into two-layer structure comprising an inner layer part 5 and an outer layer part 6. The outer layer part 6 is formed by sticking strip prepreg formed by cutting cloth prepreg in rectangular shape, randomly to the inner surface of a press mold and hot- pressing. The inner layer part 5 is formed by laminating cloth prepreg on the inner surface of the outer layer part 6. The inner layer part 5 has long continuous fiber and has mechanical strength even after carbonization. The outer layer part 6 has short discontinuous fiber and has high gas permeability and high heat preventiveness.
