PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the size of a printer. SOLUTION: The printer comprises a unit for carrying a print substrate along a passage passing through an ink imparting unit and a dryer. The passage has a partial passage between a first position at the ink imparting unit and a second position on the downstream side of the first position. The partial passage has first and second substantially linear parts and a convex curve between the first and second substantially linear parts.
