METHOD OF ENHANCING GENE-TRANSFERRING EFFICIENCY FOR MONOCOTYLEDON

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for enhancing the transferring efficiency of an objective gene for a monocotyledon that is important as a food resource for human being upon the gene transfer by the genetic engineering technique. SOLUTION: This method for enhancing a gene-transferring efficiency for a monocotyledon (e.g. Oryza sativa) in obtaining a tissue of plant body of transformed plant comprises transferring a cytokinin-related gene (e.g. ipt = isopenenyltransferase) into the monocotyledon together with the objective gene followed by making the monocotyledonous cell grow, or grow and redifferentiate.
