PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To surely feed wash water into the washing tub of a washing machine having a self-priming water suction pump by means of priming, by avoiding fluctuation of the rotating speed of a pump motor caused by fluctuation of an AC power supply and variations in the characteristic of the pump motor, and thus holding water-feeding performance constant regardless of the frequency of the AC power supply and fluctuation of the voltage of the AC power supply. SOLUTION: The rotating speed of the pump motor 43 driving the self- priming water suction pump is detected by a rotating speed detecting means and is controlled by a control means 30 according to signals outputted from the rotating speed detecting means.
