A breast prosthesis suitable for inplanting within the human breast, comprises a container made of a flexible material (e.g. silicone rubber) and having a front section 6 which approximates the shape of the human breast and a rear section 7 adapted to fit against the chest wall 8, a soft gel 11 (e.g. silicone gel) filling the container and a porous material 9 (e.g. polyester fabric) attached to rear section 7 so that tissue can grow into the porous material to anchor the breast prosthesis to the chest wall 8. The fabric 9 may be corrugated and joined to the rear section 7 by daubs of cement 10.
