PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cathode scanning type X-ray generator for a very high- speed X-ray CT scanner and the very high-speed X-ray CT scanner using this generator which are capable of inspecting the inside of an examined object stereoscopically and instantly and obtaining a good quality CT image and which are small and reliable. SOLUTION: The cathode scanning type X-ray generator for the very high- speed scanning type X-ray CT scanner and the X-ray CT scanner using this generator have a doughnut-shaped vacuum vessel VV, a cathode-side rotator assembly CR in this vessel and an annular cathode power supply mechanism SL1 operating in vacuum for energizing this cathode. The cathode-side rotator assembly or the rotation part of the cathode power supply mechanism is freely rotatably supported by a bearing mechanism CBG consisting of a hydrodynamic slide bearing lubricated by a liquid metal lubricant. The hydrodynamic slide bearing includes a thrust bearing for preventing the leakage of the liquid metal lubricant and has a mechanism for supplying the liquid metal lubricant automatically to this thrust bearing to operate stably for a long period always in the state of satisfactory lubrication.
